A warm welcome to the Keuka.edu Community, a place provided by the College for you to share your views and get to know members of the Keuka family. Please pay attention to the rules of each of our areas and the tone of the conversations there. We encourage on-topic, civil, quality discourse; keep in mind that access to the Keuka.edu Community is a privilege, not a right.
Moderators frequent our community areas and will remove contributions that violate these standards. From time-to-time, you may come across something you feel violates these standards before a moderator has had a chance to review it. In those cases, you should feel free to e-mail communitymgr@keuka.edu or use the “Report” button if it’s available.
We reserve the right to re-use, either online or elsewhere, any of your contributions. This includes, but is not limited to, publication on the Keuka.edu Web site, in hardcopy marketing literature, or broadcast commercials.
There are hundreds of thousands of words in the English language. Let’s avoid the four-letter ones, okay? Besides, you shelled out a decent chunk of change for your English comp class; try to make the most of your investment. Obscene language, hate speech, and derogatory verbiage won’t be tolerated, even if it’s masked by symbols or other characters.
You may not target another member or group of members to threaten harm, harass or cause distress or embarrassment.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we encourage you to voice yours. However, make sure that it’s not at the expense of another person. Contributions that contain bashing of individuals, groups of people, companies, organizations, or entities are subject to removal.
Do not promote illicit activities or the use of drugs or alcohol. Keep in mind that contributions concerning illegal activities, either on or off campus, will be surrendered to the proper law enforcement or college officials if and when necessary.
Don’t pretend to be anyone you aren’t; we like who you really are just fine.
Contributions that include any kind of advertising, solicitation or promotion are not permitted. We do not allow advertisement of commercial goods or auction items except in designated areas. Chain letters, pyramid schemes and business advertisements are not permitted.
Contributions designed to inflame or disrupt ongoing discussions, veer conversations off topic, or that contain offensive material may be removed.
As much as we enjoy getting to know everyone personally, keep in mind that the Internet is open to everyone. For that reason, please do not post personal information such as addresses or phone numbers—yours or others’—in our community. Divulging the content of private communications is also not permitted. This includes instant messages, e-mails, etc.
You may only contribute material to which you own the copyright. For more information on copyright, visit the U.S. Copyright Office.
We encourage you to read other people’s contributions before posting one of your own. This will give you an idea of the topic and tone of the community before posting.
Contributions that don’t fall within the discussion topic presented can disrupt conversations. We reserve the right to remove contributions or move them to the appropriate topic.
Please don’t respond directly to disruptive contributions, but feel free to e-mail the appropriate Web address to communitymgr@mail.keuka.edu for investigation.
Keuka College has the right to enforce these Community Standards at our sole discretion.
We encourage you to express yourself and have fun in doing so, but make sure you stay within these guidelines. Inappropriate contributions are subject to removal and violation of these guidelines may result in a loss of your access privileges.
We don’t prescreen contributions, but we reserve the right to remove, with or without notification, content that doesn’t comply with these standards. We also reserve the right to make changes to these standards at any time. You’re encouraged to check this document periodically for updates.
